Playstation Vita hands on

So after going to three different best buys I was losing hope but thought I would try future shop. I was on my way to the last future shop here and thought about turning around and going home but persevered. I ran in, panting, cursing, a look of desperation on my face.

"please tell me you have the vita!"

"we have one more, but that lady there is on her way to the case"

I took that old bitches cane and smacked her dentures right of her mouth. Picked up her dog and drop kicked hiss ass into the home theatre department, grabbed that little Sony miracle and sprinted outta there.

I'm on my way home now and will have a full hands on review up tonight with a video in the next couple days.

Alright.....So ive been playing around with this thing for a few hours and I'm mixed.

From a tech point of view, its pretty dam cool. The front and back touch screens are very intuitive and quite responsive, my only complaint about that would be that the system and games utilize the touch interface quite a lot, to the point where main menu's and such are touch only and make no use of the D-pad, its a minor complaint and is based purely on my tastes, being a more traditional gamer im just so used to the d-pad that it feels a bit weird but im sure I'll get used to it quickly.

In-game, you can decide how much you want to utilize the touch interface so it doesnt feel too forced. Ive played a bit of uncharted and it looks great. I went into it with high expectations so at first, the opening cutscene caught me off guard as it seemed a bit low res but the actual game play looks fantastic, not PS3 level graphics but very close.

The dual analog sticks are good and bad. It feels more like a controller which is great but again, my being used to the controller, the analog sticks feel quite small and the range of motion with them is noticeably lower. Again, something to get used to.

The system's user interface is easy to use and i was able to pick it up quickly. It feels familiar but with a few new features. Being that it launched today, titles and apps are limited so theres not much else I can say. Im looking forward to some apps and there are some upcoming titles I'm extremely excited for.

This is a first edition bundle, My advice is to wait until the 22nd (for north america) when they re-release the system at a price cut.

All in all, its great, uncharted is great so far, it feels like im playing a PS3 title on a handheld which is pretty amazing. If you've got an extra 300 clams sitting around and are an avid tech user or handheld gamer than pick it up.

I'll do a hands on video tomorrow with some more in depth discussion.

Nice lol, loving the epic story just to get it hah :') Hm, I myself don't see me getting used to the touch interface :/ But Uncharted Golden Abyss just looks too promising to decline :p

Same, Uncharted actually got me into playing campaign's on other games, I used to be all for multiplayer and that is all, but Uncharted had something unique Very Happy I have still yet to get my hands on 3 though :'( Is Golden Abyss the same as Drakes deception? Or is it a different game? And The Vita has many great titles lined up already for it, such as:
- Killzone
- Call of duty
- Final Fantasy X
- Mortal Kombat
- Resistance
- Fifa
- Street Fighter X Tekken
Just to name a few... and there will be many more. I will try and get one in the summer - because I have a feeling they may release a slim model. Btw, do you sign into your normal SEN? Or is it a separate one just for Vita?

Surprised I hope the price falls so I can buy more of these games, Hobbes have you got 3G on yours atm? I'm wondering if I could possibly make my phone a hotspot or something. I'm unsure about this, but how would you get a 3G plan in the UK? Do you just have a contract similar to that of a mobile phone? I've never had a 3G capable device other than my phone, so I have no clue Razz

Mine is the 3G capable version but i havent purchased a sim card yet. IM usually within range of some wireless network so i probably wont use it. But yeah you need to contact your network provider and get a sim card set up with a monthly data plan. and like i said, the price will drop 50 bucks on the 22nd here in NA and games are only like 35 bucks or something

Epic story and a good review.

How does the trophy system work? Does it sync to PSN or to a seperate account?

It seems really cool, but I know that if I got it, after a while I would only use it every once and a while, because I had a PSP 1000 around the time it came out. If the only difference the right analog stick, and the two touch screens?

Good enough to pay extra if you ask me. The difference is as big of a gap between PS3 and PS3 as it is with PSP 1000 and PSP Vita Razz
